Two parole absconders arrested in stolen vehicle Tuesday

On Tuesday, the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office arrested two parole asbconders in a stolen vehicle after receiving information they were heading to a residence in Baxter County.

The police department in Rector, Ar. contacted the Sheriff’s Office stating they have received a tip two females would be arriving at a specific residence in Baxter County at approximately 4 in the afternoon in a white Dodge Ram 1500 4×4 truck which had been stolen in their jurisdiction. They also stated the vehicle may be displaying fictitious licenses plates.

Deputies set up observation point in the area and at approximately 3:43, deputies observed a vehicle matching the description as it turned down Baxter County Road 11. The vehicle was occupied by two females, identified as 22-year-old Kalei Britt and 28-year-old Makaylah Riffle. Deputies did confirm the stolen truck was from Rector and displayed fictitious licenses plates.

Both Britt and Riffle were taken into custody and transported to the Baxter County Detention Center.

During interrogation, Riffle admitted to authorities she stole the truck from a car lot and had been driving it to various locations throughout Arkansas over the past week. She stated she picked up Britt after she had stolen the vehicle. Britt admitted to law enforcement she knew the truck had been stolen. The truck was valued at approximately $15,000.

Both Britt and Riffle face felony charges of theft by receiving and violation of their parole. They are both being held without bond for the violation of parole and have been given a bond of $75,000 each for the theft charge.

Britt and Riffle are scheduled to appear before the Circuit Court on April 15th.

In addition, both Britt and Riffle were named as suspects in a separate theft case reported to the Sheriff’s Office on April 2nd. They were accused of stealing antique U.S. and foreign currency from a residence on Baxter CR 18 where they had briefly stayed. The stolen items were valued at $1,500. This case is under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division and may result in additional charges.
