Thursday results include MHHS softball team winning, baseball team losing doubleheader at Russellville

The Mountain Home High School softball team had a successful road trip as they picked up a sweep at Russellville.
The Lady Bombers defeated the Lady Cyclones 8-5 in the opener. Emma King picked up the win in the circle. Daelyn Harper led Mountain Home by going 4-for-5 with an RBI; Kiley Horne went 2-for-3, hit a two-run home run and a solo shot, drew a walk and was hit by a pitch; Karleigh Drewry was 1-for-3 with a walk; Libby Dewey went 1-for-4 with a sacrifice fly and two RBIs; King and Jayla Yonkers were both 1-for-4 with an RBI; and Natalie Fieet went 1-for-4.
The Lady Bombers wrapped up the evening with a 16-10 victory over Russellville as King was again the winning pitcher. Fleet was 4-for-5 with a solo homer and three RBIs; Laken Anderson went 3-for-4 with a sacrifice bunt; Drewry was 2-for-4 with a walk; Harper went 2-for-5, hit a home run, drew a walk and drove in two runs; Horne went 2-for-5, was hit by a pitch and drove in a run; King was 1-for-4 with a walk and four RBIs; and Dewey went 1-for-4, drew a walk and drove in a run on a sacrifice fly.
Mountain Home improves to 10-7 on the season and 7-1 in the 5A-West.

Elsewhere, Flippin was swept in a doubleheader by Valley Springs with scores of 15-0 and 13-0, Calico Rock fell to Shirley 5-0, Bakersfield lost to Couch 12-10, Salem topped Mountain View 7-3, and Izard County swept a doubleheader over White County Central with scores of 15-0 and 5-0.

Mountain Home’s varsity baseball team had a rough day as they were swept in their doubleheader at Russellville. The Bombers began with a 10-0 loss to the Cyclones. Russellville also took the late game 2-0. Mountain Home drops to 10-10-1 on the year.

In other varsity baseball, Flippin beat Cave City 7-3, Viola routed Concord 11-1, Bakersfield shut out Alton 5-0, Salem fell to Pangburn 9-6, Melbourne defeated Mountain View 18-3, and Bergman was swept in a doubleheader by Valley Springs with scores of 14-4 and 18-0.

The Mountain Home junior varsity squad ended up with a win on the road. The J.V. Bombers topped Harrison 7-4.
