
The ASU-Mountain Home baseball team was able to sweep this weekend’s three-game series after winning Saturday’s doubleheader over Southern Arkansas University Tech. The Trailblazers beat the Rockets 9-2 in the early game. The last game was more lopsided as ASU-Mountain Home destroyed SAU Tech 27-5. The Blazers improve to 26-10 on the season, and they’ll return to Hot Springs on Thursday for an outing with National Park.
ASU-Mountain Home did not fare as well on the softball diamond as they were swept by North Arkansas College at Harrison.
The Blazers were edged out by the Pioneers 6-5 in the opener. Kylee Hodge suffered the defeat as she pitched six innings, struck out one batter and gave up nine hits, three walks and three earned runs. Kaitlyn Horton led ASU-Mountain Home by going 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI; Cali Dun went 2-for-4, scored a run and drove in another; Sydney Bryeans was 2-for-4 with a run; and Kamryn Floyd ended up with a walk and two sacrifice bunts.
The Blazers wrapped up the day by losing to Northark 16-3. Bryeans was the losing pitcher with two innings, one strikeout, four hits, five walks and seven earned runs. Tinley Williams went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI; Dunn was also 2-for-3; and Jessee Latham went 1-for-2, scored a run and drove in another.
ASU-Mountain Home drops to 0-26 on the year, and they’ll return to Keller Park on Thursday for a doubleheader with National Park.
