Man facing negligent homicide charges after fatal boating collision

A judge found probable cause to charge a man with negligent homicide in the boating death of a woman.

49-year-old Jeremy Robert Holmes of Shirley is facing multiple charges that stem from a fatal collision on Greers Ferry Lake in 2023. 46-year-old Tonya Cooper of Higden died and three others were injured. According to court documents, Holmes had a blood alcohol content (BAC) of 0.126 when the boat he was driving crashed into another boat. A BAC of .08 or more is considered intoxicated in the state of Arkansas.

Deputies booked Holmes into the county jail at 10:21 a.m. Monday, April 15 and his bond was set at $10,000.
