
Norfork was among the high schools that sent their track teams to Bomber Stadium on Monday for the 1A-2 Conference Meet.
The Lady Panthers finished as the runners-up as Rural Special won the girls’ title. Timbo was fifth, and Viola ended up seventh.
Norfork had wins from Keely Blanchard in the high jump and from Aimee Johnson, Cate Shaddy, Avery Davis and Maggie Tyrone in the 4×200-meter relay. Viola’s Missy Wilson won the 1600-meter and 3200-meter runs, and Mallory Mosley of Timbo won the pole vault. For Rural Special, Rayleigh Turner won the 100-meter, 200-meter and 400-meter dashes and the triple jump; and Rieley Sutterfield won the 800-meter run. Also for the Lady Rebels, Emma Goins, Allysa Stone, Bellah Kirby and Emma Jo Lejeune won the 4×100-meter relay; Kendall Kocher, Lejeune, Stone and Sutterfield won the 4×400-meter relay; and Kenli Clark, Kocher, Aubrey Linville and Sutterfield won the 4×800-meter relay.
Norfork took third place on the boys’ side. Timbo was crowned as the conference champions, Rural Special finished sixth, and Viola was seventh.
Noah Shaw led the Panthers by winning the 200-meter dash and the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles. Also for Norfork, Shaw, Corbin Stover, Cory Jines and Carson Beavers won the 4×100-meter and 4×200-meter relays. Viola’s Andrew Ponson won the 100-meter dash. For Timbo, Riley Callahan won the 1600-meter and 3200-meter runs and the triple jump; Grady Pitcock won the pole vault; Braden Avey won the shot put; and the team of Jaxon Wilkins, Pitcock, Logan Treadway and Dalton Shellstrom won the 4×800-meter relay. Rural Special’s Brayden Watts won the 800-meter run.
Three area schools took part in the 3A-1 Conference Meet at Elkins.
Flippin ended up fifth on the boys’ side, and Bergman took seventh place. The host Elks kept the championship trophy at home. The Bobcats’ top performance came from Kolby Hurst as he finished second in the high jump.
In the girls’ results, Flippin was sixth, Bergman ended up seventh, and Valley Springs took eighth place.
The Lady Bobcats were led by Autumn Loomis as she finished third in the high jump, the 300-meter hurdles and the 200-meter dash. Also for Flippin, Alyssa Shelton was third in the 3200-meter run; and the team of Loomis, Sophia Rasico, Grace Jackson and Emily Shelton ended up third in the 4×400-meter relay.
Bergman’s Kinsley See won the high jump, and Violet Gamez of Valley Springs won the shot put.
Two area schools competed in the 2A-2 Conference Meet at Quitman. Both of the host Bulldog teams kept the titles at home.
On the boys’ side, Izard County took second place, and Marshall finished third. For the Cougars, Hayden Strong won the long jump and the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes, and Jesse Phennel won the pole vault. For the Bobcats, Toby Campbell won the shot put. Marshall also had the winning team in the 4×200-meter relay.
Marshall was third in the girls’ team standings, and Izard County ended up fourth. The Lady Cougars’ Akynna Nielsen won the 200-meter dash. The Lady Bobcats’ top individual performance was from Lilly Campbell as she took second place in the shot put, and they also had a team that finished second in the 4×200-meter relay.
Mammoth Spring sent its track teams to Pocahontas for the 1A-3 Conference Meet.
The Lady Bears were the runners-up in the girls’ team standings with the title going to Armorel. Mammoth Spring’s team of Adrianna and Molly Corbett, Laney Young and Jailee Tyson won the 4×800-meter relay.
On the boys’ side, Mammoth Spring ended up third, and the championship was captured by Marked Tree. For the Bears, Garet O’Dell won the 1600-meter and 3200-meter runs.
