24 area teams to advance to regional tournaments

The Twin Lakes Area will be represented by 11 baseball teams and 13 softball teams during this week’s regional tournaments. All regional tournaments are scheduled to start Thursday, weather permitting.

Two area schools will compete in the Class 2A West Regional Baseball Tournament at Lavaca. Cotter meets Mountainburg at 12:30, and Marshall faces Mansfield at 3.

Two area baseball teams will be in Marked Tree for the first two games of the Class 1A Region 2 Tournament at Marked Tree. Norfork takes on Crowley’s Ridge Academy at 10, and Viola plays Armorel at 12:30.

Valley Springs will be the host school for the Class 3A Region 1 Baseball Tournament at the Equity Bank Sports Complex in Harrison. The Tigers will be paired witih Paris at 12:30, and Flippin meets Charleston at 5:30.

Izard County’s baseball team will compete in the Class 2A Central Regional Tournament at South Side-Bee Branch. The Cougars face Bigelow at 3.

The Melbourne baseball team will take part in the Class 3A Region 2 Tournament at Rivercrest High School in Wilson. The Bearkatz take on Harrisburg at 12:30.

Omaha has been designated as the host school for the Class 1A Region 1 Baseball Tournament that will also be held at the Equity Bank Sports Complex. The Eagles play Ozark Catholic at 12:30, Jasper will be matched up with Mulberry at 3, and Lead Hill meets County Line at 5:30.

Three area softball teams will be in Lavaca for the start of the Class 2A West Regional Tournament. Cotter faces Hector at 10, Yellville-Summit takes on Mansfield at 3, and Marshall plays Magazine at 5:30.

Valley Springs will also host the Class 3A Region 1 Softball Tournament to be held at Harrison. Valley Springs will go up against another group of Lady Tigers from Charleston at 12:30, and Flippin meets Booneville at 5:30.

Two area softball teams will compete in the Class 3A Region 2 Tournament at Rivercrest. Melbourne plays Harrisburg at 12:30, and Salem will be paired with Corning at 3.

Izard County will take part in the Class 2A Central Regional Softball Tournament at South Side-Bee Branch. The Lady Cougars meet Bigelow at 12:30.

Omaha is also the host school of the Class 1A Region 1 Softball Tournament at the Equity Bank Sportx Complex. Jasper faces Mulberry at 12:30, and Omaha takes on County Line. Lead Hill has a bye to Friday’s semifinals, and as a result, they have automatically qualified for the Class 1A State Tournament.
