
The Class 3A State Track Meet was held Tuesday at Jessieville, and when it was over, one area team left as state co-champions. Mountain View will be sharing the girls’ title with Prescott.
Also on the girls’ side, Salem ended up fifth, Melbourne finished in a three-way tie for 16th place, Valley Springs was tied for 27th, and Bergman took 29th place.
Salem came away with wins in two events. Katy Walling, Marleigh Sellars, Olivia Dockins and Chloe Taylor won the 4×100-meter relay; and Tinsley Leslie, Sellars, Dockins and Taylor won the 4×200-meter relay.
Mountain View had three event victories. Ellie Akins won the 1600-meter run; Emma Akins won the 3200-meter run; and Ellie and Emma Akins and Kaitlyn and Kallie McCarn won the 4×800-meter relay.
Prescott also won the boys’ team title. Melbourne ended up 29th, and Salem and Mountain View were part of a three-way tie for 30th place. The top individual performance among the area athletes came from the Yellowjackets’ Cole Hubberd as he took fifth place in the 300-meter hurdles.
