A man is accused of using counterfeit bills for purchases at two businesses in Mountain View around the time of this past Christmas. Thirty-five-year-old Timothy Wayne Dickerson is two felony counts of first-degree forgery.
According to the probable cause affidavit, a Mountain View officer was contacted Dec. 26 by the owner of a gas station and informed of a counterfeit $100 bill in the day’s deposit. The officer retrieved video footage from the station and the counterfeit bill from the bank. He later made contact with the cashier, who didn’t realize the currency was fraudulent. The video footage showed the suspect in a vehicle not registered to him.
The next day, another Mountain View patrolman took a statement from a bank employee, who was reportedly working on the deposit for another retailer. The employee came across a $100 bill similar to the one in the gas station’s deposit. Investigators arrived at the store, observed video footage, and discovered the same suspect as the male at the gas station. An attempt to identify the suspect was unsuccessful at the time.
On Jan. 22, investigators sent the photo and other information to the Arkansas Fusion Center. Officials at the center ran the photo through the driver’s license database retrieved a photo of Dickerson. The photos matched the suspect in the videos from the two retailers.
Dickerson’s bond is set at $30,000. A check of the Arkansas and National Crime Information Centers shows previous drug and forgery charges over two years ago from the Jonesboro Police Department, but they were dismissed less than a year later.
