Friday schedule includes regular season finales for MHHS baseball, softball

High school baseball and softball make up much of the local Friday schedule.

The Mountain Home baseball team will make up its final doubleheader with Alma as a state tournament bid is on the line, and the games have been moved to McClain Park. The first game at Pitts Field begins at 4:30.

Norfork’s baseball team will compete in the first semifinal of the Class 1A Region 2 Tournament at Marked Tree. The Panthers meet Armorel at noon.

Jasper will take part in the semifinals of the Class 1A Region 1 Baseball Tournament at the Equity Bank Sports Complex in Harrison. The Pirates face County Line at 12:30.

Elsewhere, Bakersfield hosts Dora, and Gainesville entertains Fordland.

The Mountain Home softball team will also wrap up its regular season in front of the home crowd as they welcome Vilonia to McClain Park. The varsity game at Freedom Field begins at 4:30 followed by the junior varsity contest.

Cotter’s softball team will be in the semifinals of the Class 2A West Regional Tournament at Lavaca. The Lady Warriors take on the host Lady Golden Arrows at noon.

The Viola softball team will be back at Marked Tree for the semifinals of the Class 1A Region 2 Tournament. The Lady Longhorns play Concord at noon.

Two area teams will continue action in the semifinals of the Class 3A Region 2 Softball Tournament at Rivercrest High School in Wilson. Melbourne and Gosnell get underway at noon, and Salem meets the host Lady Colts at 2:30.

Valley Springs will continue to host the Class 3A Region 1 Softball Tournament at the Equity Bank Sports Complex. The Lady Tigers face Hackett in the semifinals at 10.

The semifinals of the Class 1A Region 1 Softball Tournament will also be held in Harrison. Jasper takes on Scranton at 10, and Lead Hill plays County Line at 12:30.

Elsewhere, district play gets underway for spring softball in Missouri.

Two area schools will begin action in the Class 1, District 4 Tournament at Mansfield. Dora will be matched up with Fordland at 2, and Bakersfield faces the host school at 4.

Two area teams will play their openers in the Class 2, District 4 Tournament at Mountain Grove. Gainesville takes on Willow Springs at noon, and top-seeded Ava plays Mountain View-Liberty at 2.

Forsyth will be the site for the Class 2, District 5 Tournament. Hollister goes up against top-seeded Strafford at 3:45, and the host Lady Panthers face Clever at 5:15.
