Monday results include loss for Bakersfield baseball team, win for Gainesville

A few area high school baseball and softball teams were in action on Monday.

In high school baseball, Bakersfield fell to Norwood 5-1, Gainesville shut out Alton 9-0, and Dora blanked Winona 3-0.

Forsyth’s softball team was able to pull off an upset as they hosted the semifinals of the Class 2, District 5 Tournament. The Lady Panthers doubled up top-seeded Strafford 4-2. Forsyth improves to 16-15 on the season.

Ava was able to finish its semifinal game in the Class 2, District 4 Softball Tournament at Mountain Grove. The top-seeded Lady Bears routed the host Lady Panthers 11-1. Ava is now 18-6 on the year.
