A Boone County man has been arrested after allegedly making threats towards his neighbors. Twenty-six-year-old Jeremiah Smith is facing charges of terroristic threatening and harassment.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Boone County Sheriff’s deputies were contacted by the victims who stated their neighbor had been making death threats towards them and made threats to burn their land. The victims told authorities they were riding horses around the neighborhood earlier in the day when Smith allegedly started shooting towards them. Deputies told the victims they could talk to Smith, however they were afraid of retaliation from him. They both stated they were scared of Smith and rarely got at good night’s sleep. The victims told authorities Smith was known to allegedly grow marijuana and it was one of the reasons he was mad at them.

The victim’s emailed authorities numerous recordings and screenshots of Smith stating his intentions to burn their place down and kill them. Deputies were also provided numerous harassing text messages from Smith to the victims.

Smith is currently being held in the Boone County Detention Center on one felony count of terroristic threatening and misdemeanor counts of terroristic threatening and harassment. He is currently being held on a $2,500 bond and has been ordered to have no contact with the victims.
