High school baseball, softball and soccer are included on the local Thursday schedule as state tournaments get underway in Arkansas.
The Mountain Home baseball team will be at the Equity Bank Sports Complex for one of the opening games of the Class 5A State Tournament. The Bombers’ first opponent will be Lake Hamilton.
Mountain Home comes into the postseason with a record of 17-10-1. The Bombers clinched the No. 4 seed from the 5A-West after sweeping Alma to end their regular season.
Lake Hamilton enters the tournament as the champions of the 5A-South. The Wolves currently have a mark of 22-4.
The first pitch at Jack Williams Field is scheduled for 10. Thursday’s game will be streamed on the Bomber Sports Network on YouTube.
Two area baseball teams will square off in the opening round of the Class 1A State Tournament hosted by Greers Ferry West Side. Norfork meets Jasper at 12:30 at the Heber Springs Sports Complex.
Mountain Home’s softball team will join their baseball counterparts at the Equity Bank Sports Complex as they wrap up the first round of the Class 5A State Tournament. The Lady Bombers are set to face Texarkana.
Mountain Home is currently 16-11 on the year. The Lady Bombers finished the regular season as co-runners-up of the 5A-West, but they ended up as the third-seeded team after losing the tiebreaker to Greenbrier.
Texarkana is the runner-up of the 5A-South. The Lady Razorbacks’ record currently stands at 18-5.

Cotter will send its softball team to Palestine-Wheatley High School for the start of the Class 2A State Tournament. The Lady Warriors take on Rison at 3.
Three area schools will compete in the Class 1A State Softball Tournament hosted by Greers Ferry West Side. At the Heber Springs Sports Complex, Lead Hill gets underway with Concord at 10, and Viola plays Scranton at 3. Jasper will be paired with Shirley at 5:30 at West Side High School.
Three area softball teams will be at Majestic Park in Hot Springs for the first day of the Class 3A State Tournament. On Honus Wagner Field, Valley Springs meets Harding Academy at 12:30, and Salem faces Genoa Central at 3. Melbourne takes on Fouke at 5:30 on Jackie Robinson Field.
The Mountain View boys’ soccer team will be at the Anstaff Soccer Complex in Harrison for one of the opening matches of the Class 3A State Tournament hosted by Bergman. The Yellowjackets play LISA Academy North at 11 on Equity Bank Field.
Harrison will send its girls’ soccer team to Hot Springs for the start of the Class 5A State Tournament hosted by Lakeside. The Lady Goblins will be matched up with El Dorado at 2.
