A rural Norfork woman is accused of falsely claiming to have been shot by her neighbor. Sixty-six-year-old Deborah Mayer is facing a charge of calling 911 for the purpose of making a false claim.

According to the incident report, Baxter County 911 dispatch received a report Friday evening of a female, identified as Mayer, claiming to have been shot in the shoulder by her neighbor on Serenity Lane. The first deputy arrived, and Mayer fell down the stairs of her porch and blamed the deputy for pushing her. The second deputy arrived, and while he was talking with Mayer, he reportedly could smell the odor of alcohol.

Mayer accused her neighbor of shooting her in the shoulder with a .22-caliber rifle. When the deputy asked to see the injury, she reportedly said the injury must have disappeared, and the blood evaporated. Other deputies had reportedly been in the area twice prior to the responding deputies’ arrival of harassment reports. The neighbors had accused Mayer of stating she was going to kill them.

After speaking with Mayer and confirming she wasn’t shot, one of the deputies informed her she was under arrest. She reportedly said she was a good person and was being arrested for no reason. The deputy explained to her she can’t call 911 and make a false report.

While being transported to the Baxter County Detention Center, Mayer reportedly admitted to drinking wine all day and vomited in the patrol vehicle. She also allegedly kicked and screamed claiming the deputy was raping her.

Mayer was released from jail on Monday after posting a bond of $480.
