A Harrison man was arrested following a domestic incident where he flipped over a couch while the victim was still sitting on it.

According to the probable cause affidavit, on the morning of May 3, the Boone County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a domestic dispute. The caller told dispatchers her husband, identified as 24-year-old Dreyton Hamilton, had just rammed his vehicle into the left side of hers and struck her in the face before he left for work.

Upon arrival, the victim told authorities the incident began when Hamilton couldn’t find his cigarette vape in the residence. She stated she was sitting on the couch when Hamilton asked her if she was sitting on it. When she replied she didn’t know, Hamilton allegedly took hold of the couch and flipped it over while the victim was still sitting on it. The victim told deputies she was 25 weeks pregnant and Hamilton had also hit her in the face. She said Hamilton then went outside, got into his truck and drove into the front passenger side of her vehicle. Deputies observed red marks on the victim’s right cheek.

Deputies then went to Hamilton’s place of employment to let him know they had a report of an argument between him and his wife earlier in the morning. Hamilton told deputies the victim had threatened to take his truck to sell so she could use the money to “buy things.” He continued to say he had flipped the couch over because he was looking for his vape and tool for work, adding he had asked the victim to move multiple times before flipping the couch while she was still sitting there. Hamilton also stated he didn’t hit the victim, but if he did, “You would know.”

Hamilton was arrested and booked into the Boone County Detention Center. He is facing one felony count of domestic battery and a misdemeanor count of assault on a family or household member. He was released on a $5,000 bond.
