Kempson, McIlvoy win Chuck Morton Memorial Junior Golf Championship

The annual Chuck Morton Memorial Junior Golf Championship wrapped up its two-day run Friday at Big Creek Golf and Country Club.

Terrance Kempson was the top golfer on the boys’ side as he won the 16-to-18 age group with a total of three-under-par 141. Kempson finished four strokes ahead of Sam Patterson in the division, and Holtz Helms was third with a 147.

Garrison Whitworth won the 14-and-15 division with an even-par 144. Cody Cormican ended up second at three strokes back, and Nate Krumholz took third place with a 154.

The 12-and-13 age group was captured by Brody Knapp with a 157. Henry Aicklen finished second with a 178, and Bryant Edens was third with a 222.

Kooper Bateman won among ages 10 and 11 with an 89. Gavin Piland ended up second with a 121.

Liza McIlvoy had the best performance on the girls’ side as she topped the 16-to-18 age group with a two-day total of 163. Drew Katherine Mizanin took the tiebreaker for second place over Isabella Curtis after both golfers finished seven strokes off the lead.

Callie Short won the 14-and-15 division with a 202. Massey Hays was second with a 222, and Ashley Smith ended up third with a 240.
