Applications are still being accepted for Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) relief. Assistance from FEMA is and will not affect other federal benefits. In addition, FEMA funds will not affect eligibility for Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits or other federal or state benefit programs.

Funds received from FEMA help survivors pay for temporary housing, essential home repairs, essential personal property replacement and other serious disaster-related needs not covered by insurance.

Disaster relief funds may be available to citizens in Baxter, Benton, Boone, Fulton, Greene, Madison, Marion and Randolph counties who experienced loss or damage during the May 24-27 severe storms and tornadoes. The deadline to apply is Aug. 28.

Survivors can go online to disasterassistance.gov, use the FEMA mobile app or call 800-621-3362. The line is open every day from 6 until 11, Central Time and help is available in most languages. If anyone uses a relay service, such as video relay (VRS), captioned telephone or other service, give FEMA the number for that service.
