A woman is accused of attacking a healthcare worker while she was a patient at Baxter Health. Thirty-two-year-old Felicia Vaughan is in the Baxter County Detention Center on a felony count of second-degree battery.
According to the probable cause affidavit, a Mountain Home officer was dispatched July 7 to the hospital and made contact with a female, identified as Vaughan. She stated she was told by hospital staff she attacked a physician and “pulled out her hair.” Vaughan claimed she blacked out and didn’t recall her alleged actions.
The officer then spoke to the healthcare worker. She claimed she had previously spoken to Vaughan by phone. Vaughan was reportedly at another facility at the time, but she wanted to be transferred to Mountain Home, where her family was located. The victim reportedly told Vaughan if she came to Baxter Health, they couldn’t transfer her back due to her lack of insurance, but she came in the night before.
The victim said she started assessing Vaughan with another physician on a Zoom call. Vaughan reportedly said she wanted to return to Fort Smith, but the victim repeated her stance that it wasn’t possible. Vaughan reportedly became angry, stood up and threatened to attack the healthcare worker, but she then sat back down. Vaughan allegedly stood back up, lunged at the victim and starting ripping her hair out with both hands.
Both females fell to the floor during the incident, but Vaughan then reportedly stood back up and returned to her chair. The victim told Vaughan she would be arrested, and she said she blacked out and didn’t remember anything. The Mountain Home officer observed bald spots on the victim from where the hair had allegedly been ripped out.
The officer later spoke to the physician on the Zoom call. The physician confirmed the victim’s account. She also stated she couldn’t see the door through the call, but she thought she heard the door open, and Vaughan stopped her attack at that moment.
Vaughan’s bond is currently set at $5,000.
