A Harrison man was arrested after being accused of domestic assault. Forty-two-year-old Christopher Dotson is facing charges of terroristic threatening, assault on a household member and endangering the welfare of a minor.According to the probable cause affidavit, deputies were dispatched to a residence in mid June in reference to a physical disturbance. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with a woman who claimed she had been in a physical altercation with her boyfriend, Christopher Dotson. She stated Dotson had fled the apartment on foot after she told him she was contacting law enforcement.

According to the victim, Dotson had an upset stomach and went to lay down in the victim’s bed and fell asleep. The victim stated she wanted to go to bed after a while, but Dotson refused to leave her bed. She claimed she and her child went to the spare bed room. Dotson woke up and was allegedly upset because she wouldn’t come to bed with him. A verbal argument ensued and the victim told Dotson to leave the apartment, but he refused. The victim said the child became scared due to the yelling.

During the argument, Dotson reportedly hit the bedroom and bathroom door separately causing damage to both. The victim told Dotson she was going to call law enforcement, but Dotson threatened to kill her if she did. Dotson allegedly attempted to take the phone from her, and while doing so, grabbed her by her right wrist and pushed her and the child she was carrying down onto the bed. The victim stated she sat up, placed the child on the bed and retrieved her phone back from Dotson. Dotson then allegedly tried to take the child, but the victim managed to keep him away from her. After contacting the Harrison Police Department, the victim told officers Dotson ran away from the scene. The victim was able to show officers Dotson’s approximate location via an app on her phone..

Dotson’s location appeared to be in the woods down the street. Officers searched the area and found Dotson laying down in the thick woods and was ordered to come out. Dotson complied and was taken into custody where he was interviewed after being read his Miranda Rights. Dotson did not wish to complete a voluntary written statement.

In the interview, Dotson claimed after eating dinner, his stomach began to hurt so he went to lay down in the bedroom and fell asleep. He stated he woke up to the victim and the child laying down in the spare bedroom. He alleged the victim was upset because he wouldn’t get out of her bed when she wanted to go to sleep, but he did not recall her asking him to. Dotson and the victim got into a verbal argument about the bed situation and he punched the wall a couple times out of frustration. Dotson said he told the victim to leave him alone, then told her he wanted to leave and left. He denied putting any hands on the victim or making any threats to kill her. He said he only ran because he knew he had outstanding warrants and didn’t want to go to jail. He claimed he did not remember if the victim and the child fell onto the bed at any point during the argument.

Dotson was arrested and was transported to the Boone County Jail for incarceration after he was unable to post bond. He is facing a felony count of terroristic threatening, a misdemeanor count of assault on a family or household member and a misdemeanor count of endangering the welfare of a minor. He was also booked on a warrant out of Carroll County for failure to appear and driving on a suspended license.
