The Environmental Protection Agency announced last week that it was ending its emergency operations in Smackover in response to the June oil spill that led to 2,500 barrels of oil spilling into the homes and Smackover creeks. The EPA announcement came about a month after the spill was first disclosed. The response will now transition into the maintenance phase and the EPA demobilized July 16th.
