A man’s latest criminal charges came after he offered a “purple drink” that turned out to be laced with Fentanyl and methamphetamine to two people he was visiting.

Thirty-seven-year-old Mark Jeffries pled guilty to the newest charges and to revocations in older cases during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Monday.

He was sentenced to six years in prison.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Jeffries came to visit the residents of a house located along Glenbriar in late February.

The victims told police Jeffries had urged them to take a drink of a purple liquid contained in a water bottle.

Both residents said they had no idea what was in the bottle but assumed it was a beverage containing alcohol.

When officers arrived on the scene, they reported finding the two victims “showing signs of overdose.” They were transported to Baxter Health, treated and released.

Since 2021, Jeffries, who once listed an address in Indianapolis, has had a number of other criminal charges filed against him.

The charges included attempting to sneak illegal drugs into the county jail, theft by receiving, possession of methamphetamine, selling drugs to a person working with law enforcement and being a felon in possession of a weapon.

It was the new drug-related charge that triggered the filing of revocation petitions in the older cases. Jeffries is currently being held in the Ouachita Unit of the state prison system.
