An investigation into a vehicle break-in and a residential theft of over $40,000 resulted in the arrest of two suspects, including the victim’s roommate. Thirty-nine-year-old Jessica Adams of Mount Pleasant and 44-year-old Shae George of Heber Springs are in the Izard County Detention Center.
According to Izard County Sheriff Charley Melton, a deputy took the report Thursday of the vehicle break-in and the theft at a residence on Circle Drive in Mount Pleasant. As the victim’s roommate, identified as Adams, was interviewed and other information was gathered, George was identified as a suspect.
George was later located, and during his second interview, he reportedly admitted to his part of the crimes and led investigators to multiple locations where the money was hidden. A large portion of the money was recovered. In addition, information was gathered from Adams’ and George’s phones showing the two allegedly working together on the crimes.
Adams and George were formally charged Monday with felony counts of theft of property. George also faces a felony county of breaking or entering. Both are scheduled to appear in Izard County Circuit Court.
The Izard County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in the investigation by the 16th Judicial District Drug Task Force and the Independence County Sheriff’s Office.
