Charges are pending for a man who was apprehended Wednesday morning by the West Plains Police Department for allegedly kidnapping his daughter.
According to a press release from the West Plains Police Department, Joseph Raider, who was located by a citizen in the West Plains area, is being held on a 24-hour hold pending formal charges after an Amber Alert was issued for two-year-old Paxton Raider.
At approximately 6:53 Wednesday morning, officers were called to a possible sighting of the missing child in the 3700 block of U.S. Highway 63 North. An area business owner advised officers that Raider and the missing child had entered his business, and he locked them inside while he called authorities.
Upon arrival, Raider was placed under arrest while the child was medically evaluated by emergency services and was released to her mother.
Charges are being sought on Raider through the Howell County Prosecutor’s Office for parental kidnapping and endangering the welfare of a child.
Authorities in Howell County state the parental kidnapping happened Tuesday night around 9 and believed her to be in danger.
