The city of Little Rock’s new initiative called Eyes on the Rock invites citizens with home security cameras to assist investigators in preventing and solving crimes.

Little Rock currently has more than 3,200 cameras around the city as part of its Real Time Crime Center. Mayor Frank Scott Jr. said he would like to boost that number to 30,000 by connecting with home and business security cameras.

“We’re not coming into your homes to seek anything else,” Scott said. “It’s about ensuring we have public safety and continuing to drive down crime and violent crime in our city, as we have seen. This is a very strategic way to do this quick, fast and in a hurry.”

According to the initiative, registering with Eyes on the Rock does not give the Little Rock Police Department access to your live video stream, but it does let investigators know a camera is present and request video evidence if needed.
