
Candidates interested in running for municipal seats had a deadline of noon on Wednesday to file their paperwork.In Baxter County, Paige Wolfe has filed for Mountain Home City Council Ward 1 Seat 1, Mark Conley has filed for Norfork Alderman Ward 1, Position 1, Lacey Baker has filed for Norfork Alderman Ward 3, Position 2, Kendra Spencer has filed for Recorder/Treasurer in Salesville, Angela Pereira has filed for Cotter Alderman Ward 3, Position 2, and Andrea Kray has filed for reelection of Recorder/Treasurer in Cotter.
BAXTER COUNTY RACES
Two races have developed for Mountain Home City Council. Incumbent Jim Bodenhamer, currently holding Ward 4, Position 1, will face challenger Michele Linehan this November. Paige Wolfe, who filed Wednesday, will run against incumbent Bob Van Haaren.
All other filings on the Mountain Home City Council are by current incumbents. The filings are from Bob Van Haaren for Ward 1, Position 1; Susan Stockton for Ward 1, Position 2; Jennifer Baker for Ward 2, Position 1; Wayne Almond for Ward 2, Position 2; Carry Manuel for Ward 3, Position 2; and Nick Reed for Ward 4, Position 2.
Gassville has one filing with Ward 2, Position 2 council member Anita Seaman running for reelection.
Five incumbents have filed for the Cotter City Council. Carolyn Gill of Ward 1, Position 1, Charles Sugg of Ward 2, Position 1, Linda McCarthy of Ward 2, Position 2, and Mertice Kray of Ward 3, Position 1 will seek reelection. Newcomer Pereira has filed for Ward 3, Position 2. Joe Bass will also run for Ward 1, Position 2. Bass was appointed to the position by the council last month following the resignation of Sheila Wingard. Incumbent Andrea Kray will seek another term as Recorder/Treasurer of Cotter.
The city of Norfork currently has five races for the general election. Chrissy Cook has filed to challenge current Ward 1, Position 2 council member Harry Roderick; incumbent Phillip Stultz and challenger Hannah Gilmer filed for Ward 2, Position 1; William Goodman will challenge incumbent Mark Conley for Ward 1, Position 1; Jason Fraser has filed to challenge Angie Parnell for Ward 3, Position 1; and incumbent Hannah Martin and challenger Candace Lewis filed for the recorder/treasurer position. Russell Jones will run for the seat currently held by Jake Anderson at Ward 2, Position 2. Anderson has also not filed for reelection. Lacey Baker will run for Ward 3, Position 2, against incumbent Kay Gragg.
Two election filings have been reported for Salesville. Incumbent Jared Sorters has filed for reelection for Ward 2, Position 1 and Carolyn Neel will seek reelection for Ward 1, Position 1.
In Briarcliff incumbent Tommy Webb is seeking another term for Ward 3, Position 1, Renate Schmitt will run for reelection as the city’s recorder and treasurer and Daisy Schneider will seek reelection for Ward 2 Position 1.
Four incumbents have filed for reelection in Lakeview. Ward 1, Position 1 council member Ralph Edge, Ward 2, Position 1 council member Carl Hill, Ward 3, Position 1 Bill Svehla and recorder Kim Wallace will seek another term.
All Big Flat City Council members will run for another term. Sharon White will seek reelection for Position 1, Bonnie Sutterfield will seek reelection for Position 2, Shawn Shelton will seek reelection for Position 3, and Kim Shelton will run again for Position 4, and for Position 5 council member Lonnie Holt will run for reelection. Recorder/Treasurer Michael Treat will also seek reelection.
MARION COUNTY RACES
In Marion County, several seats will see challengers in Bull Shoals including six candidates for the mayoral position. Candidates facing off against incumber Carol Duss include Misty Zucco, Phillip Friese, Terry D’Anla and Travis Fancher and William “Bill” Stahlman. Duss was appointed to the position in April following the resignation of Michael Savu.
For Ward 1, Position 1, candidates include incumbent Daryl Lindman with challenger Merle E. Fawcett, Sr.. Ward 1 Position 2 will see a race between incumbent Jody Grede and challenger Randal Bolen.
In Ward 2, Position 1, incumbent Michael Castanga will face challenger Russel Meinking. Ward 2 Position 2 will see incumbent Dino Giannini face challengers Michael Howell and Brenna Ferrell.
Ward 3 Position 1 will see incumbent Dale Forbus run against challenger Nancy Jo Pucci and in Ward 3, Position 2, incumbent Wesley Phelan will face challenger Kevin Hutchinson.
The Recorder/Treasurer position will see incumbent Tina Bailey face challenger Paula Reynolds.
In Flippin, Lacie Bettencourt has filed for reelection for Ward 1, Position 1, Jodi Howard has filed for Ward 1, Position 2 and Margaret Ott has filed for Ward 2, Position 1.
Four incumbents will seek another term on the Yellville City Council. Layton Lee will run for reelection on Ward 1, Position 1, and Vickie Fogerty will run again for Ward 1, Position 2, Lorna Goodwin will run for reelection for Ward 2, Position 2, Maggie Davenport will run again for Ward 3, Position 1 and Clark Gusin will seek reelection for Ward 3, Position 2.
Travis Doshier has filed for a position in Yellville. Doshier will run for the clerk/recorder position, currently held by Melissa Dorsey.
