Another minor earthquake has been reported in northern Marion County near Bull Shoals Lake less than two weeks after the last one hit the vicinity. The United States Geological Survey says the magnitude 2.2 quake was recorded 9 1/2 miles west-northwest of Bull Shoals at 10:30 Saturday night. The location is 20.9 miles west-northwest of Mountain Home, 24.2 miles east-northeast of Harrison and 30.4 miles east-southeast of Branson.
Experts say normally, earthquakes below magnitude 3 are rarely felt. However, smaller quakes from magnitude 2.0 can be felt by humans if the quake is shallow (few kilometers only) and if they are very close to the epicenter and not disturbed by ambient factors such as noise, wind, vibrations of engines, traffic, etc.
Anyone who felt the quake can let the Geological Survey know on its website.
