A local law-enforcement agency has new technology to assist in better serving its citizens. The Ozark County Sheriff’s Office was able to purchase different types of equipment courtesy of a government grant.

Equipment similar to that obtained in Ozark County is not often seen in small law-enforcement agencies. Sheriff Martin says they were able to get more money than originally expected after other agencies didn’t follow through on their grant processes.

Sheriff Martin goes on to say the government’s assistance to purchase the new equipment is a boost for his office, especially with the financial struggles it’s faced over the years.

The Ozark County sheriff says he’s hoping his department will come into some more money in 2025. In April, voters approved a measure allowing the county to collect on internet sales the same 2% sales tax now collected on purchases made at brick-and-mortar businesses in Ozark County. The tax is set to be split three ways with 50% going to general revenue, 25% to law enforcement and 25% to road and bridge.
