A couple filed a lawsuit Thursday against the man accused in a mass shooting that happened at a Fordyce grocery store in June.Brittney and Jeromy Sullivent are suing Travis Eugene Posey for $75,000 in compensatory damages tied to the shooting, in addition to punitive damages.

In the lawsuit, it is alleged that Posey took shots at Brittney with a 12-gauge shotgun, hitting her in the arm and head as well as damaging the car she was driving. The suit states that Brittney received medical treatment locally before being airlifted to UAMS in Little Rock. The lawsuit also notes that Brittney received multiple medical procedures at UAMS that are still ongoing.

The lawsuit claims that due to the shooting, Brittney experienced, “pain and suffering, mental anguish, past and future medical procedures and expenses, hearing loss, permanent disfigurement, loss of consortium and other damages.”

Jeromy Sullivent claims in the lawsuit to have suffered “a loss of consortium as a proximate cause of the Defendant’s intentional actions.”

Posey is accused of fatally shooting four people and injuring several others during the mass shooting.
