
The latest unemployment numbers from the Arkansas Division of Workforce Services and the Missouri Economic Research and Information Center show July’s unemployment rates in north central Arkansas and southern Missouri counties rose when compared June.
In Baxter County, the rate eased up from 4.3% in June to 4.4% in July. Baxter County’s rate is tied for the 33rd lowest out of Arkansas’ 75 counties. There are 753 unemployed Baxter County residents out of a work force of 17,103.
Marion County’s rate went up from 4.7% in June to 4.8% in July, ranking it as tied for the 47th lowest in the state. Marion County has 287 residents out of work from a work force of 6,024.
Fulton County’s unemployment rate rose from 4.4% in June to 4.6% in July, which means they are tied for the 38th lowest rate in the state. Fulton County has a labor force of 4,303 and 200 are unemployed.
The unemployment rate in Izard County jumped from 5.3% in June to 5.8% in July, which has them ranked 61st lowest out of 75 counties in Arkansas. There are 270 Izard County residents unemployed out of a work force of 4,625.
In Stone County, the rate increased from 4.4% in June to 4.7% in July. That ranks Stone County tied for 43rd in the state. There are 4,613 in the labor force in Stone County with 217 unemployed.
Searcy County’s unemployment rate moved up from 4.7% to 5.1% in July, ranking them tied for 55th in Arkansas. There are 142 people unemployed in Searcy County out of a work force of 2,760.
Boone County saw its rate move up from 3.8% in June to 4.0% in July, putting them in a tie for the 19th lowest rate in the state. Boone County has a work force of 15,614 with 625 out of work.
Newton County is tied for the state’s 26th lowest unemployment rate at 4.3%, up from 3.9% the previous month. Newton County has a labor force of 3,143 with 134 of those unemployed.
Arkansas’ unemployment rate in July was 3.3%, the same as the previous month.
In southern Missouri, Ozark County’s rate had a dramatic rise from 6% in June to 7.1% in July. Ozark County has 237 unemployed out of a work force of 3,361.
Douglas County saw its rate go up from 4.6% in June to 5.1% in July. In Douglas County, the labor force is 5,198, and there are 265 out of work.
Howell County’s rate went up from 5.6% to 6.2% in July. Howell County has work force of 15,735 with 982 unemployed.
Taney County’s rate had a rise, going from 4.5% in June to 4.7% in July. There are 1,330 unemployed in Taney County out of a labor force of 28,494.
Missouri’s unemployment rate increased from 4.2% in June to 4.6% in July.
