Jerald Marberry is being remembered as someone who loved the community he served. The former mayor of Flippin died Friday at his residence at the age of 76.

Current Mayor Heith Hogan took over the office at the beginning of last year after Marberry decided not to run for re-election. Hogan had praise for the job his predecessor did as Flippin’s top official.

Marberry was first elected as the mayor of Flippin in November 2014 after defeating Hogan in a runoff election. He was sworn into office at the beginning of 2015 and held the position for eight years.

Hogan worked with Marberry as a former member of the Flippin City Council, and he says they shared a similar vision for the city.

Hogan says Marberry was proud to be able to serve as the mayor of the city he grew up in and occupy the same office as his uncle, the late Bob Marberry.
