An Izard County man is behind bars after a domestic situation where he refused to let his pregnant ex-girlfriend leave their house. Arrested for the incident was 21-year-old Dakoda Jon Reeves of Dolph.

According to the probable cause affidavit from the Izard County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the residence Saturday because the victim, who is 38-weeks pregnant, was being held against her will by Reeves. When the responding deputy arrived, the victim opened a window and said, “He won’t let me out.”

The victim told the deputy the incident started when she told Reeves of her plans to move out, get a job and make herself better for the baby. She said they started arguing, and she called her mother to come pick her up, but Reeves then took her phone and blocked her in the house.

The victim says Reeves barricaded the front door and had put her in a “bear hug” to prevent her from leaving, at which time she bit him on the shoulder to get free. He also cornered her in the bedroom and would push her back onto the bed when she would try to leave the room.

Reeves is facing a felony charge of third-degree domestic battering and a misdemeanor charge of second-degree false imprisonment. He is being held in the Izard County Detention Center without bond.
