The Mountain Home High School golf teams hosted the 5A-West Conference Tournament Tuesday at Big Creek Golf and Country Club. The Bomber boys successfully defended their conference championship from a year ago, and Mountain Home’s girls ended up as the runners-up.
Mountain Home’s team total on the boys’ side was 309, seven strokes better than the runners-up from Harrison. Harrison finished tied for third place with Van Buren with both teams at 327.
Cody Cormican represented the Bombers as the medalist after he beat Russellville’s Riley Davis on a playoff hole. Cormican and Davis both finished regulation with a one-under-par 71. Mountain Home’s Chace Berwald was tied for third with Berkley Knapp of Harrison after both shot a 75. Jack Coleman ended up ninth with a 79.
The Mountain Home girls had a team total of 296. Russellville won the conference title at 241.
Individually for the Lady Bombers, Abby Edens took third place with an 85. Anna Torres finished sixth with a 97, and Ashley Smith was 16th with a 114. Susanna Manns of Russellville won the medalist honor with a four-under-par 68.
