A public hearing will be held at 6 at Cotter City Hall before Thursday night’s Cotter City Council meeting.

The public hearing will determine whether an application for Arkansas Community and Economic Development Program (ACEDP) funds should be developed and, if so, what the community needs. Comments on proposed project activities, especially those with possible impact on the community, will be discussed.

ACEDP funds are federal assistance received by the State of Arkansas and administered by the Arkansas Economic Development Commission. These funds will be available to cities and counties according to need and can be used for housing rehabilitation, community facilities, or economic development. The funds must benefit low—or moderate-income families, aid in the prevention of slums and blight, or meet other community needs that pose a serious threat to the health and welfare of the community, where no other funding is available to meet such needs.

Items on the agenda for the regular meeting include:

– consideration of an ordinance establishing construction permit application and fees;
– consideration of a resolution to authorize the Mayor to sign an application for CDBG funds through the Arkansas Community and Economic Development Program for NAYC Renovations;
– consideration of a resolution designating Northwest Arkansas Economic Development District, a non-profit agency, as CBDG grant administrator;
– consideration of a resolution establishing a policy prohibiting the use of excessive force by law enforcement agencies within the applicant’s jurisdiction against individuals engaged in non-violent civil rights demonstrations;
– consideration of a resolution establishing an anti-displacement plan for the City of Cotter;
– consideration of a resolution affirming the City of Cotter’s fair housing and equal opportunity policy; and
– consideration of a budget resolution to include the USDA grant for CVFD Radios and Pagers and a matching donation of $7,450 by CVFD Auxiliary.
