The Lady Bombers volleyball teams started with losses but ended on top as they hosted Greene County Tech (GCT) at the Hangar Tuesday evening. The night’s theme
was “Exceptional Athletes Night” and the Bombers took the opportunity to honor fellow athletes competing in the Special Olympics in the upcoming year. Local special Olympic athletes will compete in bowling, track and field and basketball in 2025.
In volleyball action the junior high B Team started the night losing in a match to the Eagles 23-25. Landry Litty had 5 kills, 8 digs and Kynlee Reed contributed 6 digs.
Mountain Home’s junior high varsity team fought hard but ultimately fell to GCT in 3 sets with scores of 24-26, 25-9 and 9-15. Eliana Pepin posted 8 kills, 6 digs, Joslin Haney had 6 kills and Shayn Wickersham had 18 digs. The team is now 12-4 on the season with a conference record standing at 8-1.
The tide began to shift for the Bombers as the high school junior varsity team took to the court and defeated the Eagles in a single set 25-22. Annyston Crooker had 5 kills, Ava Jones had 13 assists and Kenna Medley posted 7 digs.
The varsity contest looked shaky for Mountain Home as they fell in the first set 18-25 but the proceeding 3 sets sealed the deal for the Bombers as they finished strong with scores of 25-21, 25-20 and 25-19. Anna McCarn had 18 kills, 13 blocks, 6 digs, Aspen Vostatek had 4 kills, 3 blocks and Cara Jackson had 35 assists, 16 digs. The Bombers now have a record of 10-5 overall and 6-3 in the 5A-East.
