A Mountain Home man has been arrested for trying to start a fire at a local fast food restaurant. Forty-six-year-old Shane Eugene Carson is facing a felony charge for the Monday morning incident.
According to the probable cause affidavit from the Mountain Home Police Department, officers were called to the Wendy’s restaurant for the report someone trying to start a fire. A member of management showed officers surveillance video of an individual placing something under the gas meter, lighting it on fire and leaving. An employee saw the fire and was able to extinguish it.
Also on the video, Carson had earlier attempted to light a piece of wood on fire under the same gas meter.
Officers were able to identify Carson from previous encounters with him earlier in the day.
Carson is charged with a felony count of criminal attempt to commit arson. He also faces a penalty enhancement for being a habitual offender. He is being held in the Baxter County Detention Center with bond set at $25,000.
