TRANSCRIPT:
The council approved an ordinance to vacate a utility easement located on part of lots 86 and 87 of Big Creek Estates, Phase 1. The petitioners, Gregory and Diane DeRose, through their attorney Ted Sanders, said the easement has never been used as a utility easement in the past.
The council put the ordinance on its second and third readings and passed it unanimously with council members Paige Evans and Bob Van Haaren absent.
The council also heard a construction update on the Community and Aquatic Center being built at the junction of U.S. Highway 62/412 West and the Shied Hopper Bypass in McCabe Park. Mayor Hillrey Adams told the council crews started steel work Thursday. The council, and those attending the meeting, were shown pictures of the structure and a time lapse video of the construction.
Mayor Adams says they are still on track to open the facility by the spring of 2026.
