
Several area high school tennis athletes will begin state tournament play on Monday.
Mountain Home and Harrison will be represented in the Class 5A State Tournament at Searcy. Mountain Home’s Pierce Blackmon and Finley Chafin will compete in the boys’ doubles bracket against Jace Faulkner and Michael Payton Zielstra of Sylvan Hills. In the boys’ singles division, Mountain Home’s Landon Horne meets Eli Long of Little Rock Christian, fellow Bomber Strat Rucker faces Cruz Wilcox of Greenbrier, Wyatt Mahoney of Harrison takes on Sanlin Malone of Hot Springs Lakeside, and fellow Goblin Max Stoll plays Barrett Tipton of Lakeside. In girls’ singles play, Mountain Home’s Mary Charles McConnell will be paired with Isabella Altamirano of Lakeside, and Emelia Bell of Harrison meets Ellie Kinzler of Little Rock Christian.
Two area schools will send athletes to Fort Smith for the Class 2A State Tournament at Creekmore Park. Taylor Richardson and Abby Hutson of Viola will take part in the girls’ doubles bracket against Grace Dickinson and Brynn Morgan of Ozark Catholic. Viola will also be represented in the girls’ singles division as Piper Swindle faces Eva Goodwin of Parkers Chapel, and Meredith Deane takes on Meagan Richardson of Tuckerman. In boys’ singles play, Aden Kiefer of Viola plays Kaleb Griffis of Hampton, and Canaan Hudson of Jasper will be matched up with Eli Roberts of Carlisle.
Two other area schools will be represented in the Class 3A State Tournament at the Conway Tennis Center. Mountain View’s Adhi Andadaraj will compete in the boys’ singles bracket against Dyson Stewart of Baptist Prep. Kiersten Lowry and Nealy Nuessner of Bergman will take part in the girls’ doubles division against Emma and Anna Ferguson of Booneville.
