A former Bomber football player who has previously been inducted into the MHHS Athletic Hall of Honor as a member of two different teams will be recognized again this weekend. Tommy Sharp will be part of the Class of 2024, this time as an individual athlete.
Sharp was on the 1957 team that joined the Hall of Honor in 2014 and the 1960 team that was inducted the following year. During his last two years as a Bomber, he was named All-District. He was also named the district’s outstanding lineman during his senior year, received the KTLO Outstanding Player Award and was selected All-State at the center position. Sharp says he owes much of his success to the leadership of Coach Don Dempsey.
Listen:
Sharp says one memory that sticks out in his mind as a Bomber features the late Mountain Home High School band director Robert Nelson, who was a teammate of his.
Listen:
Sharp would go on to join the United States Air Force after graduation and served for four years. He later worked in manufacturing and built FB-111 aircraft and Bell helicopters. Sharp says the education at Mountain Home helped prepare him for adult life.
Listen:
Tommy Sharp will be enshrined during the MHHS Athletic Hall of Honor Banquet Saturday in the high school cafeteria. The meet and greet starts at noon, and the meal will start an hour later.
