A few area high school volleyball teams continued regional tournament play on Wednesday.
The semifinals of the Class 2A East Regional Tournament were held at Izard County High School in Brockwell.
Cotter was able to advance to the championship match after defeating Piggott. The Lady Warriors needed all five sets, but they were able to get past the Lady Mohawks with scores of 27-25, 24-26, 25-16, 13-25 and 15-11. Cotter improves to 16-4 on the season.
Izard County came up short in the first semifinal. The host Lady Cougars lost in four sets as Marshall posted scores of 17-25, 25-16, 25-21 and 25-23. Izard County falls to 10-7 on the year. The Lady Bobcats remain undefeated in 16 matches.
Valley Springs was defeated in the semifinals of the Class 3A East Regional Tournament at Hoxie. Crowley’s Ridge Academy beat the Lady Tigers in straight sets with scores of 25-22, 25-19 and 25-21. Valley Springs drops to 20-6 on the season.
