State tournaments begin this week for high school volleyball in Arkansas, and a total of five area teams will be competing.
Mountain Home will be paired with Shiloh Christian in the opening round of the Class 5A State Tournament at Van Buren. The Lady Bombers are currently 15-9 on the season and finished tied for third in the 5A-East, but they’ll enter with a No. 4 seed after losing the tiebreaker to Greene County Tech. The Lady Saints come into the tournament as the 5A-West conference champions with a record 30-4-1. Tuesday’s match is scheduled for 1.
Three area teams will go to Hackett this week for the Class 2A State Tournament.
Izard County will play in Tuesday’s opening round. The Lady Cougars will meet St. Joseph from Conway at 5.
Cotter and Marshall both have first round byes, and they’ll begin action in Wednesday’s quarterfinal round. The Lady Bobcats will take the court at 1 against either Ozark Catholic or Cutter-Morning Star, and the Lady Warriors will play either Quitman or Taylor at 7.
Valley Springs will be in Paris on Tuesday for its first match in the Class 3A State Tournament. The Lady Tigers will take on Harding Academy at 5.
