
Cotter had mixed results as they played four basketball games at Mammoth Spring. The Warriors lost the senior boys’ game to the Bears 55-45. Mammoth Spring also took the senior girls’ contest 35-25. Cotter fared better in the junior boys’ game as they defeated Mammoth Spring 48-11. Cotter’s junior girls began the evening with a 54-14 win.
Norfork was swept in three games and was swept by another group of Panthers at Yellville-Summit. Norfork fell to Yellville-Summit in the senior girls’ game 51-40. The Norfork senior boys did not fare any better as they lost to Yellville-Summit 61-27. The evening started with Norfork falling in the junior boys’ contest 49-33.
Viola ended up with two wins as they hosted Timbo for three games.
The Lady Longhorns topped the Lady Tigers in the senior girls 63-21. Taylor Richardson led Viola with 30 points, and Cheyenne Newberry added 11. The Lady Longhorns improve to 8-5 on the season and 3-1 in the 1A-2.
Viola had a different result in the senior boys’ game. The Longhorns suffered a 66-30 defeat to Timbo.
Viola’s junior girls had their second straight win with a 46-25 decision over Timbo. The Junior Lady Longhorns were led by Morgan Newberry with 19 points.
The Calico Rock High School teams split their games at Lead Hill.
The Lady Pirates ended up with a good evening. Calico Rock was able to beat the Lady Tigers 49-34.
Calico Rock’s boys were not as fortunate as they fell to Lead Hill 58-50. William French was the Pirates’ top scorer with 13 points, Landon Russell had 11, and Eli Thorton and Heath Brothers each chipped in 10 points. Noah Royce recorded 24 points for the Tigers, and Dawson Lively finished with 10.
The Bakersfield boys dominated their Coaches vs. Cancer game. The Lions invoked the mercy rule as they routed Koshkonong 78-27.
Izard County came away with a four-game sweep at home over Marshall.
The Cougars captured the senior boys’ game over the Bobcats 69-47. Cash Arnhart paced Izard County with 17 points, and Benjamin Tuschak scored 14. The Cougars are now 3-1 on the year and 2-0 in the 2A-2.
Izard County’s senior girls remain unbeaten after beating Marshall 56-46. The Lady Cougars were led by Quinn Johnson and Olivia Spray with 16 points each, and Tinlee Bailey added 12. Izard County improves to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the league.
The Izard County junior boys were able to hold off Marshall 40-35. Beniah Spray was the Junior Cougars’ leading scorer with 29 points. Izard County is now 4-2 on the season and 1-1 in conference play.
Izard County’s junior girls began the night by doubling up Marshall 40-20. Kallie Skidmore led the Junior Lady Cougars with 17 points. Izard County is now 3-2 and 1-1.
The Melbourne High School girls were able to put the mercy rule in effect in front of the home crowd. The Lady Bearkatz routed Cave City 89-42.
Rural Special’s girls had a tough night on their home floor. The Lady Rebels lost to Greers Ferry West Side 69-50.
Valley Springs ended up splitting its high school games at Elkins.
The Lady Tigers breezed past the Lady Elks 78-54. Valley Springs was led by Macy Willis with 19 points, and Tayla Trammel and Olivia Keeter each chipped in 15. The Lady Tigers improve to 11-2 on the year.
The boys’ game followed with a different result. Valley Springs suffered a 70-29 defeat at the hands of Elkins.
The Harrison High School girls went on the road and came up a little short. The Lady Goblins lost at Greenbrier 36-31.
