An area public school district is beginning 2025 with new leadership. Mark Taylor was recently selected as the interim superintendent at Mammoth Spring effective New Year’s Day.

The district had announced on its website nearly a week-and-a-half ago outgoing Superintendent Jennie Whisnant had submitted her resignation to be effective at the end of the current school year on June 30. Over a week later, the district issued another post stating Taylor would take over the position.

Taylor is a 1987 Mammoth Spring graduate who has been with the district for 21 years. He has served as a math and science teacher, elementary and high school principal, director of transportation, district testing coordinator, special education local education agent and federal programs director.

Taylor will serve as the superintendent for the remainder of the school year.
