
Cotter ended up getting swept in its high school basketball games against Mammoth Spring as they boys’ contest included a buzzer beater. A three-pointer was banked in to put the Bears past the Warriors 51-50. Cotter also lost the girls’ game to Mammoth Spring 48-31.
Flippin picked up one win as they hosted Salem for three games. The Bobcats had the lone victory in the senior boys’ game as they topped the Greyhounds 46-37. The senior girls’ contest had a different result as Flippin fell to Salem 71-36. The evening began with Flippin’s junior girls losing to Salem 45-28.
Yellville-Summit picked up a sweep over Cave City. The Lady Panthers routed the Cavewomen 49-20. Yellville-Summit’s boys squeaked by Cave City 50-48.
Viola came away with two wins in three home games against Concord.
The Lady Longhorns took the senior girls’ game over Lady Pirates 50-38. Cheyenne Newberry was Viola’s top scorer as 18 of her 28 points came from behind the arc, and Marissa Hutson added 12 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.
Viola was not as fortunate in the senior boys’ contest. The Longhorns lost to Concord 52-43.
The Viola junior girls put the mercy rule in effect as they beat up on Concord 37-7.
Gainesville’s boys had a rough night in front of the home crowd. The Bulldogs fell to Chadwick 67-44.
Izard County ended up with three wins in four games at Marshall.
The senior boys’ game ended with the Cougars beating the Bobcats 65-42. Gabe Spray paced Izard County with 22 points, and Cash Arnhart chipped in 11. The Cougars are now 13-8 on the year and 6-1 in the 2A-2.
Izard County also won the senior girls’ contest over Marshall 67-54. The Lady Cougars were led by Olivia Spray with 24 points, Quinn Johnson scored 17, and Makensie Yancey had 11. Izard County improves to 12-4 on the season and 6-1 in conference play.
The junior girls’ game concluded with Izard County topping defeating Marshall 38-27. Hadleigh Herron was the Junior Lady Cougars’ leading scorer with 19 points, and Kallie Skidmore recorded 13. Izard County is 10-2 on the year and 6-1 in the league.
Izard County’s only loss was in the junior boys’ game as Marshall posted the 39-34 win. Benaiah Spray led the Junior Cougars with 26 points. Izard County drops to 8-5 overall and 4-3 in the 2A-2.
Melbourne, whose high school teams are ranked fourth in Class 3A by the Arkansas Sports Media, split its games at Mountain View. The Bearkatz won the boys’ game over the Yellowjackets 61-33. Melbourne was not as fortunate in the girls’ contest as they lost to Mountain View 62-42.
Rural Special swept its high school games over Shirley on the home floor in Fox. The Lady Rebels, currently ranked fourth in Class 1A by the Arkansas Sports Media, pounded the Lady Blue Devils 52-28. The boys’ game was more lopsided as Rural Special destroyed Shirley 74-36.
Lead Hill’s girls picked up a win in front of their home crowd. The Lady Tigers defeated Mount Judea 55-34.
Bergman was able to sweep its high school games over Valley Springs at the Panther Palace.
The Panthers ended up beating the Tigers 61-39. Bergman came into the game as the unanimous top-ranked team in Class 3A.
The Bergman girls also had a 72-55 win over Valley Springs, who is ranked fifth in Class 3A. The Lady Tigers were led by Tayla Trammell with 17 points. Valley Springs falls to 21-5 on the season and 3-2 in the 3A-2.
Omaha’s boys had a tough road trip. The Eagles suffered a 64-58 loss to Deer.
Ozark Mountain won both of its high school games at Eureka Springs. The Lady Bears were all over the Lady Highlanders 59-12. Ozark Mountain also captured the boys’ game 46-28.
Jasper invoked the mercy rule in both of its high school games at Kingston. The Pirates beat up on the Yellowjackets 81-50 in the boys’ game. Jasper also won the girls’ contest 55-22.
