
High school basketball makes up much of the local Friday schedule and includes the first of two straight road trips for Mountain Home. The Bombers and Lady Bombers will continue conference play as they meet Alma.
Mountain Home’s girls are currently 17-3 on the season and 3-1 in the 5A-West. The Lady Bombers, ranked second in Class 5A and fourth overall by the Arkansas Sports Media, suffered their first league defeat Tuesday at the hands of Farmington. Alma is 13-7 and 1-3. The Lady Airedales are coming off a one-point loss to Van Buren.
The Mountain Home boys are 10-10 overall and 0-4 in the conference. The Bombers were edged out by Farmington earlier this week. Alma is 10-6 and 2-2. The Airedales picked up a 10-point win over Van Buren three nights ago.
The junior varsity boys’ game tips off at 5 at Charles B. Dyer Airedale Arena. The varsity contests begin around 6 and will be broadcast on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com and the Bomber Sports Network on YouTube.
Also in the 5A-West, Harrison travels to Van Buren, Russellville makes the trip to Farmington, and Siloam Springs heads to Greenwood.
The Gainesville girls will compete for the consolation title of the Cabool Lady Classic Tournament. The Lady Bulldogs face Couch at 4.
Elsewhere, Mountain Home Christian Academy hosts Mountain Grove Christian, Cotter entertains Marshall, Norfork travels to Calico Rock, Flippin is home against Valley Springs, Yellville-Summit makes the trip to Melbourne, Viola hosts Greers Ferry West Side, Bakersfield’s girls entertain Van Buren, Mo., the Gainesville boys are home against Mountain Grove, Lutie’s boys host Bradleyville, Izard County entertains Cedar Ridge, the Dora boys are home against Seymour for homecoming, Mammoth Spring hosts Tuckerman, Lead Hill heads to Rogers to take on Founders Classical Academy, Bergman entertains Cave City, Omaha is home against Kingston, Ozark Mountain travels to Haas Hall-Rogers, and Jasper will send its two boys’ teams to Rogers to play the School for Advanced Studies.
