
Officials from the Mountain Home Parks and Recreation Department have issued a statement from the “threat” reported at the Youth Valentine’s Dance at Cooper Park. According to a post on Facebook, the incident occurred in the course of a video game being played.
Two individuals were reportedly playing the game, and the threat was bantered through the game itself. Staff was notified, the Mountain Home Police Department was informed. Officers arrived to the L.C. Sammons Youth Center and spoke with the individuals. Authorities reportedly verified the statement was made as a joke in the game, and no harm was intended to anyone in attendance.
According to Parks and Recreation, the youth center and its staff are striving to ensure a safe and fun space for area kids. They stated every situation is taken seriously, and the proper protocol is followed.
