A Mountain Home man charged with attempting to set a fire at a fast-food restaurant appeared in Baxter County Court on February 10 and entered a guilty plea to two counts of misdemeanor arson and was sentenced to 12 months in the county jail.

Forty-six-year-old Shane Eugene Carson is accused of first putting a piece of wood under the gas meter at Wendy’s restaurant along U.S. Highway 62/412 and attempting to set the material on fire.

He was unsuccessful.

Carson is reported to have returned and placed more material under the meter which he did manage to set on fire.

An employee noticed the fire and extinguished it.

Both attempts were captured on video from security cameras at the restaurant.

There is no explanation in the probable cause affidavit as to a possible motive.
