An area school district will be expanding its athletic program further beginning in the 2025-2026 school year. Izard County has announced it is going to add soccer to its growing list of sports.
Izard County School District Superintendent Fred Walker says the addition of soccer has been considered ever since they started football, and it’s another opportunity for district’s growing student population to get involved in extracurricular activities.

Walker says they also took a survey of their student body, and there is a lot of excitement for the prospect of starting a soccer program.
