Parents in North Central Arkansas considering a different public school district for their children have until Thursday to apply under the state’s School Choice program. The application window, which opened on January 1, allows families to request transfers for the 2025-2026 academic year.The Arkansas Public School Choice Act of 2015 permits students to attend public schools outside their resident districts, provided certain criteria are met. Applications must be submitted to the desired non-resident district by May 1. Districts will notify applicants of acceptance or denial by July 1.
Military families are exempt from the May 1 deadline and may apply at any time during the year, provided they meet other eligibility requirements.
