
Today is the deadline requiring a Real ID to board a flight or enter federal buildings.
The deadline marks when having a Real ID will begin to be enforced, however Scott Hardin, Communications Director for the Department of Finance and Administration (DFA), says Real IDs will continue to be issued after today.

Documentation to prove U.S. and Arkansas citizenship, in addition to a social security card, will be required to get a Real ID issued according to Hardin.

Additional documentation may be required for some residents showing a name change.
While the requirement has been a long time coming, Hardin recommends going ahead and getting a Real ID.

Before going to get a Real ID, Hardin recommends visiting ar.gov/realid to verify you have the correct documents as well as setting up an appointment via mydmv.arkansas.gov. In north central Arkansas, the revenue offices accepting appointments currently are Mountain Home, Marshall, Horseshoe Bend and Mammoth Spring. All offices in the state are expected to by the end of the year.
