A proposed new prison facility planned to be built in Franklin County has seen a lot of pushback both from residents and state legislatures, however many law enforcement officials support the project.
Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery says he believes the project should go through partially because the land has already been purchased.

One of the proposed alternatives to the prison project would be to expand the state prison in Calico Rock by adding 525 beds. Sheriff Montgomery disagrees with this proposal.
