A Searcy County man has been arrested for hitting his wife’s car head-on and trying to cause her to wreck with her two kids in the car. Thirty-two-year-old Jared Reynold-Gene Horton of Marshall is facing seven felony charges for the incident late last month.
According to the probable cause affidavit from the Searcy County Sheriff’s Office, the victim says Horton was upset when he was on his way home. She was leaving the area when he hit her car head-on and then tried to block her from leaving. She was able to drive around his vehicle and he started chasing her down the dirt road. Once they reached the highway, he continued to chase her, and at one point, he rammed the back bumper of her vehicle with his vehicle trying to cause an accident.
In the vehicle with the victim were her two children, ages four and three. They are not the biological children of Horton, but the victim is six-months pregnant with Horton’s child.
During questioning, Horton said it’s not a crime to accidentally bump into his own car.
Horton is facing four counts of aggravated assault and three counts of first degree endangering the welfare of a minor, all felonies. He is free after posting $15,000 bond. He was ordered to have no contact with the victim.
